Diverse challenges in a constantly changing environment
Keflavík International Airport receives many millions of visitors each year. This requires staff to know exactly what is expected of them and to have received appropriate training.
Gerður Pétursdóttir, Director of Education at Isavia, joins us for an enjoyable and informative chat. Along with a strong team, she has been building up the Isavia School since 2016. Today, nine people work on educational matters at the school, along with dozens of instructors and job trainers.
The group has about 1,500 people working in various roles. This can be a challenge, says Gerður; 190 job titles in 109 organisational units is complex and calls for diverse training plans.
Gerður says that onboarding summer employees is always a particular challenge. The applicants are, in most cases, secondary school and university students who are busy with their own studies but also need to complete extensive training before starting work.
It is therefore quite clear that the scope of education at Isavia is diverse and extensive. Here, Gerður goes over the company's educational matters, the situation today, and in the near future.
