The course begins in the late afternoon on Friday, 30 August, with a lecture and a presentation of the main edible mushroom species we can expect to find on a mushroom walk. People are taught to recognise about 20 species of safe edible mushrooms, and their distribution, habitat, and other characteristics are discussed. On Saturday, 31 August, we will then go into different woodlands with an instructor and assistants, where guidance will be provided on identifying the mushroom species found, at what stage of maturity they are usable, and how best to prepare them.
