A Flourishing Partnership
A course on the cultivation of fruit trees and berry bushes was recently held for employees of the City of Reykjavík.
The course has become well-established for those who want to deepen their knowledge of growing edible plants. The collaboration between Iðunn Education Centre and the Horticultural College is excellent and results in diverse and informative courses each year.
During the course, Guðríður Helgadóttir, director of the Horticultural College, and Ólafur Sturla Njálsson from Nátthagi taught participants about the key aspects of cultivating these plants, covering everything from species selection and location to nutrition, pruning, and care. Pests and diseases, the nutritional value of berries and fruits, and how best to use and store the produce were also discussed.
