Drainage pipes replaced in Vesturbær

Drainage pipes replaced in Vesturbær

What are the main work components when it comes to replacing drainage pipes? What kind of crew is needed for such a job? IÐAN went on site.

Birgir Hólm, master plumber and project manager, visited the site at Kaplaskjólsvegur 61-65, where drainage pipes were being replaced due to potential moisture damage that had started to appear indoors.

Pétur Máni Björgvinsson, master plumber, described the project on behalf of the contractor, Böðvar Markan, who was supervising the work. “It's very likely that moisture damage occurred here, and Böðvar was called to the site to assess the situation. It was then decided to replace the drainage system and also renew the sewage pipes. When we started digging, it became clear that the soil was such that we needed to remove a lot of it. It's soft and full of moisture. We dug well below our planned depth and filled it with gravel to increase stability,” says Pétur, who in the video shows the next steps from the project's current stage when IÐAN visited him in Vesturbær.
