Continuing Education for Professional Drivers

Continuing Education for Professional Drivers

IÐAN Education Centre offers high-quality courses for professional drivers. The courses can be attended both in-person and via distance learning.

Drivers who operate vehicles in categories C1, C, D1, and D for commercial passenger and freight transport are now required to attend 35 hours of continuing education every 5 years. This continuing education must be completed by 10 September 2018. Anyone renewing their driving licence in these categories after that date must have completed the continuing education. If an applicant has not attended a continuing education course, their driving licence may be renewed without the right to drive commercially.

IÐAN Education Centre has been accredited by the Icelandic Transport Authority to teach continuing education courses for professional drivers, and we offer such courses both in-person and via distance learning. IÐAN offers five courses in total, each seven hours long, for a total of 35 hours. The courses are divided into three categories: core, elective core, and elective. Drivers do not need to take an exam; instead, assessment is based on active participation and attendance.
