In celebration of European Vocational Skills Week, we are shining a spotlight on Erasmus grants for apprentices and newly qualified journeymen.
The European Vocational Skills Week is an annual event with the goal of promoting and strengthening vocational education and training. IÐAN regularly participates and this year, we are putting the spotlight on Erasmus grants and how they can benefit apprentices and newly qualified tradespeople.
Aðalsteinn Ásmundarson is a mechanic and a newly qualified carpenter, and one of many who have taken advantage of this grant opportunity. Aðalsteinn recently attended a course on so-called Passive Houses at South West College in Northern Ireland on an Erasmus grant. We found this intriguing and, not least, an interesting addition to the discussion on sustainability in house building. So we called him in the East of Iceland and had a good chat with Aðalsteinn, who encourages others to explore the opportunities of the Erasmus programme in their own fields.
