Erno Viitanen assists young people who need special solutions in their studies
STADIN AO and Iðan have collaborated in connection with the Erasmus+ programme for 12 years. The collaboration involves placing vocational students in internships in both countries. The journeyman's examination committee in carpentry has also visited STADIN to learn about the final examination procedures in carpentry.
In this podcast, which is called Mobility Beyond Borders and is in English, we interview Erno Viitanen, a special education teacher and jazz musician who recently visited Iðan. Viitanen works at STADIN AO, assisting young people who need special solutions to find their footing in life.
Viitanen visited Iðan, Nemastofa, and the Breiðholt Comprehensive Secondary School to learn about the Icelandic education system. He was surprised by how flexible the system is in Iceland and found it easier to react quickly to changing circumstances in Iceland than in his own home country. He also found it interesting to learn about the implementation of the validation of prior learning in Iceland, which he feels is similar to procedures in Finland.
