This wasn't about saving the world, but about saving the company

IÐAN Education Centre is hosting a series of open lectures on sustainability in industry.

Kasper Larsen, CEO of KLS Pure Print, gave a lecture last Friday titled: From Traditional Production to a Circular Business Model. Kasper is a bookkeeper by trade and one of the company's owners. KLS Pure Print was founded by his great-grandfather and grandfather in 1945. The company has only 45 employees, but despite this, KLS Pure Print is one of the 10 largest printing companies in the country. The core of the business is offset printing, although digital printing is an important service. The main markets KLS Pure Print operates in are Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

Packaging production is growing rapidly

Kasper explained the reasons why he decided to transform the entire company's operations with sustainability in mind. The biggest reason is the decline in the printing industry worldwide. Kasper said the market has shrunk by 50% over the last six years. To survive, a new direction and business strategy were needed. "This wasn't about saving the world, but about saving the company," says Kasper about the decision.
