From Idea to a Nordic Swan Ecolabelled House
Finnur Sveinsson and Gísli Sigmundsson discuss the construction of the first Nordic Swan Ecolabelled residential building in Iceland.
We recently visited Finnur Sveinsson, a consultant and environmental scientist, who, along with his wife Þórdís, built the first Nordic Swan Ecolabelled residential house in Iceland. Finnur says that the idea for the house came about in 2006, and nine years later, construction began. We were very keen to learn more about the house construction and the opportunities and challenges of sustainability in the construction industry.
Next Thursday, 19 November, there will be a live broadcast of IÐAN's second of three streamed meetings on sustainability in the construction industry. There, Finnur, along with Gísli Sigmundsson, a carpenter and owner of the company Breyting ehf, will trace the process from the idea to a sustainable house. The lecture is free, but you need to register to receive more information.
