Outstanding Workplace - Great Place to Work
Flugger is an international company with a branch in Iceland. It is one of three Icelandic companies that have gone through the Great Place to Work certification, the other two being Sahara and CCP.
Great Place to Work is a workplace analysis with a long history, based on questionnaires that all company employees answer. Elín Ólafsdóttir, Sales and HR Manager at Flugger, says that this analysis gives employees a voice in a different way than in traditional performance and employee reviews. Those are more often conducted with the immediate supervisor, says Elín, and it can be difficult to express everything in such interviews.
Great Place to Work is a way to survey job satisfaction, find avenues for professional improvements, and gain recognition for a good workplace culture. The reports are detailed, yet there is no way to trace the answers, not even in small departments. The survey is electronic, which is a great advantage, says Elín.
For companies that pass the certification, it is a certain seal of quality, and Elín mentions that this certification matters to employees as well as to job applicants.
