First group graduates from new foreman program at IÐAN Education Centre
This week, the first group of foremen graduated from a new course offered by the Iðan Education Centre, Foreman in Industry – Responsibilities and Scope of Work. A total of ten participants completed the course, with the group consisting of individuals from diverse industrial backgrounds.
“The course will be useful in my daily work as a project manager in property management. Especially in communication with subcontractors, interpersonal skills, and safety matters,” says Baldur Smári from Reitir real estate company, one of the graduates.
Högni from Alefli agreed, saying it's very important to get a better handle on the day “and see things that could be improved from day to day.”
The course is practical and tailored to the needs of foremen, new managers, and those who handle the daily management and organization of staff in the workplace. The goal is to enhance participants' professional competence in leadership and management, as well as to strengthen their understanding of responsibility, communication, and teamwork.

The course covered, among other things, the managerial role, self-awareness and values, the rights and obligations of foremen and employees, communication and leadership skills, safety and occupational health matters, quality management, and environmental awareness. Upon completion of the course, participants have gained tools and methods to foster a positive team culture, support staff in their daily work, and promote a safe and efficient workplace.
Teaching took place in person at IÐAN Education Centre in Vatnagarðar, Reykjavík, and the next course will be held from 28 January to 4 March 2026. The course instructors are Berglind Björk Hreinsdóttir and Harpa Þrastardóttir, management consultants.
