Quality Standard and Certifications in the Automotive Industry
María Jóna Magnùsdóttir has worked in the automotive industry for nearly twenty years. Here she joins us for a Moment in Industry to tell us about the new quality standard from the Icelandic Automotive Trade and Service Association and other projects.
María Jóna Magnúsdóttir is the managing director of the Icelandic Automotive Association, which is an interest group for the automotive industry as a whole. Here she tells us about a new version of the Automotive Association's quality standard and quality certifications for general car repair shops and spray painting and body repair shops. In the near future, there are also plans to certify car dealerships.
The activities of the Icelandic Automotive Association are extensive and it has over 100 members, such as workshops, car dealerships, and car salesmen. The Icelandic Automotive Association is involved in, among other things, shaping the curriculum in automotive subjects at Borgarholtsskóli and has recently worked with the government to make automotive trades part of the "Allir vinna" (Everyone Works) project.
