Guðni Erlendsson, HR Manager at Samkaup, is here in an informative chat with Eva Karen Þórðardóttir.
Samkaup has 1,400 employees in 700-800 full-time equivalent positions. It has 65 locations spread throughout the country. Samkaup operates the stores Netto, Iceland, Krambúðin, and Kjörbúðin. The company's headquarters are in Reykjanesbær.
Samkaup has a long history and strong culture of education. The Merchant School was run like a traditional school with in-person courses, which have now largely been moved to online learning. COVID helped to push this transformation forward, although that work had certainly begun before. Guðni says Samkaup is also in good communication with Bifröst University regarding study programmes for staff.
