Master Chef Dóra Svavarsdóttir discusses climate issues with us from a culinary perspective.
Environmental issues are closely linked to waste sorting in many people's minds, but of course, they are much more than that. For example, global food production is responsible for 1/3 of greenhouse gas emissions.
In Western countries, there is an overconsumption of meat and animal products, and we need to change course, according to chef Dóra Svavarsdóttir. The problem is not least that about 80% of cultivated land is used to grow feed for animals that then provide us with 40% of our food.
However, Dóra does not want to claim that we should all become vegetarians but points out that a good first step would be to follow the recommendations of the Directorate of Health, i.e., not to eat more than 70g of meat per day. Listen to this particularly interesting podcast.
