The Icelandic Skills Competition has begun

From 13–15 March 2025, My Future 2025, the Icelandic Skills Competition in trade and vocational subjects, and a secondary school presentation will take place in Laugardalshöll.

My Future is a major event held every two years. Competitions are held in 19 trades, and competitors tackle real and challenging tasks that require diverse skills, creative thinking, and outstanding professionalism. It's safe to say that these are the professionals of the future.

In addition to the competitive trades, there will be 19 demonstration trades at the event venue, offering a wide variety of things to see. Among the demonstration trades are sound engineering, mechatronics, lathing, floral design, and agriculture. Some of them will allow visitors to try their hand at the skills.

Alongside the competition, there will be an upper secondary school presentation. On Thursday and Friday, over 9,000 primary school students will visit the Hall to learn about the courses offered by the upper secondary schools. This year, special emphasis is placed on the importance of vocational and technical trades, as well as so-called STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics). Saturday, March 15th (10:00 - 15:00), is a special family day. There will be an entertaining program for the whole family. Admission to the Hall is free on all days.

We will, of course, be following the competition closely on Iðan's media channels.
