The preliminary round of the Icelandic Championship for Culinary and Service Apprentices will be held on Wednesday, 9 January 2019. The culinary competition is divided into two parts: a written exam and a practical part where the task is to prepare a classic starter and dessert.
The service competition is divided as follows: a written exam, mixing drinks – two drinks, setting a dinner table with flowers for four courses for two guests, decanting, and four special napkin folds.
Contestants are not expected to have access to any aids to complete the tasks.
The two individuals with the highest scores in the culinary and service competitions will participate in the Nordic Apprentice Competition, which will be held in Stockholm from 26–27 April 2019.
Eligibility is age-restricted. Contestants must not be older than 23 on 1 May 2019, and it is a requirement that apprentices are under an apprenticeship contract in May 2019.
Further information will be sent to contestants at the beginning of December.
Applications must be submitted to IÐAN's Food and Catering Division at Vatnagarðar 20. Email: [email protected]. The application deadline is 30 November 2018. The preliminary competition in culinary arts and service will be held on 9 January at 16:00.
