Information Session on Validation of Prior Learning, 15 January at 17:00
An informational meeting about the validation of prior learning will be held on Thursday, 11 January at 17:00 at the IÐAN Education Centre, Vatnagarðar 20. All are welcome.
Assessment of prior learning is a way to evaluate the skills and knowledge that can be acquired in the labour market. The assessment can potentially shorten studies and serve as an incentive to complete them. The conditions for participating in an assessment of prior learning are being 23 years of age and having 3 years of confirmed work experience in the relevant field. This method has yielded good results, as many participants in the assessment of prior learning have continued their studies and completed a journeyman's examination after the assessment. Here is an interesting radio interview with Edda Jóhannesdóttir, a study and career counsellor, about the assessment of prior learning.
It is planned that an assessment of prior learning will take place in the following trades and professions in the spring of 2018:
- Carpentry and masonry
- Automotive mechanics,
- auto body repair and car painting
- Cooking and food technology
- Net making
- Horticulture
