IÐAN's first remote information meeting about the validation of prior learning took place on YouTube yesterday. At the meeting, Edda Jóhannesdóttir, a study and career counsellor, presented IÐAN's validation of prior learning and answered questions from attendees. Validation of prior learning is a way to assess the skills and knowledge that can be gained in the labour market and has shortened the study time for many people towards a journeyman's certificate. The conditions for participating in a validation of prior learning are being 23 years of age and having 3 years of confirmed work experience in the relevant trade.
The validation of prior learning is based on the idea that learning is valuable and that it should be documented regardless of where it was acquired.
