LEAN in a car repair shop

Guðmundur Ingi runs the car repair shop Kistufell at Tangarhöfði in Reykjavík. Kistufell was founded in 1952 and Guðmundur is the third generation to run the company.

According to Guðmundur, there have been major changes in working conditions in the automotive industry; everything has become much more technical and the equipment correspondingly more complex. The field is very broad, says Guðmundur, and the opportunities are equally diverse for those who want to dedicate themselves to the automotive trades. In his opinion, it is a positive development that more women are training in the profession.

Kistufell adopted the LEAN methodology, which has had a tremendous impact on daily operations. It simplifies things and makes everything more efficient, which is discussed further in the podcast.
