Required Certifications in the Refrigeration and Freezing Industry
IÐAN appointed as an assessment body. Several companies have begun the certification process.
“This is timely; companies in the industry have been waiting for this for some time,” says Kristján Kristjánsson, Director of the Metal and Mechanical Engineering Division, as IÐAN Education Centre has been designated as an assessment body for individuals and companies working with fluorinated greenhouse gases in accordance with EU Regulation 2015/2067.
The certification covers the facilities and equipment of companies that handle the installation, decommissioning, repair, maintenance, or servicing of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases.
“The certification is necessary for many companies and individuals in Icelandic industry, as the regulation aims to reduce the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases,” says Kristján, adding that several companies are already in the process of certification.“We will offer training and consultation to both companies and individuals,” says Kristján.
