New Data Protection Act - The First Steps
On Thursday, 18 January, Hörður Helgi Helgason, attorney at law, visited us in Vatnagarðar and presented the legislation and the first steps in the upcoming work at IÐAN in connection with the implementation of the new European Union data protection legislation.
On 25 May 2018, new data protection legislation from the European Union will take effect, imposing strict requirements on companies and institutions regarding the processing and storage of personal data. IÐAN Education Centre is currently preparing for the changes announced by the legislation and has, for that purpose, engaged the law firm Landslög.
On Thursday, 18 January, Hörður Helgi Helgason, an attorney, visited us at Vatnagarðar and presented the legislation and the initial steps in the work ahead for IÐAN in connection with its implementation. We recorded Helgi's presentation and are publishing it here in its entirety.
In his presentation, Helgi provides good insight into the new legislation, which should be useful for companies or institutions that are in the same position as IÐAN Education Centre and are taking their first steps in implementing the GDPR.
