Innovation in Focus at Industry Days

Innovation in Focus at Industry Days

Iðan's largest educational event ever

Iðan's Industry Days will be held this year from 14-16 May and are dedicated to innovation in industry. At Industry Days, nearly thirty experts will share their knowledge and experience. Industry Days will conclude with a party in Vatnagarðar, and we promise a great time. This is the largest educational event held by the Iðan Education Centre since its inception.

Innovation is a journey that demands resilience and resourcefulness. Reaching the destination is rarely simple, as the path is not always smooth. We know it's necessary to lace up our shoes and set off. Therefore, it is invaluable to learn from our foremost professionals in the industry. At Industry Days, a large number of speakers and experts will share their experience and showcase the latest tools and equipment. More information about the programme can be found on the event's website: www.bransadagar.is

To name a few; Björn Jóhannsson from Urban Beat will discuss the use of macroalgae as a substitute material in the construction industry, experiments will be conducted in printing with paper made from novel materials, and a symposium will seek solutions to strengthen print media in Iceland. We will get to know the green innovation of the Swiss company Climeworks, which operates the world's first and largest direct air capture and storage plant at Hellisheiði, named Orca. We will explore the possibilities of metal 3D printing in Iceland and learn about the use of drones in construction and civil engineering.

Distinguished international guests

We are also expecting excellent professionals from abroad who will share the latest knowledge with us. From the UK, Elliot Smith, owner of Pro-Moto Europe, will cover the revolution in the automotive industry, its challenges, and solutions. Gert K. Nielson, a designer and expert in visual communication, comes from Denmark and will give a lecture on the main opportunities and threats in artificial intelligence. Ulbe Jelluma from Print Power will visit us from the Netherlands to discuss the potential of the printing industry. We will hear about the latest technology in vibration measurements from Garrett Williams, an expert at RMS, and we will have distinguished guests from Northern Sweden, Tore Karlsson and Simon Dahlgren from Skellefteå VUX. They will discuss how a small community tackles the challenges that come with attracting a giant company like Northvolt, especially concerning education and training. Northvolt is a relatively young company that specialises in producing lithium batteries in a more environmentally friendly way than many others and works with companies such as Volvo, BMW Group, and Volkswagen. .

Pop-up restaurant in Vatnagarðar and a party!

The programme is ambitious and will hopefully be a pleasant surprise for our members. On 16 May, we will hold a party, and an entire restaurant will open for the occasion of Industry Days in Vatnagarðar in collaboration with Loki Food, Hinrik Carl, a master chef and nature-based cook, Gísli Grímsson from Rætur natural wine, and national team chefs Hugi Rafn Stefánsson and Ólöf Ólafsdóttir. The chefs will join forces, introduce innovations, and offer us a taste of the future. The party starts at 17:00, guests will be offered refreshments from Flóra, Bergur Ebbi will perform a stand-up comedy routine, and Julladiskó will keep the party going. Those who register and attend will have a chance to win fabulous prizes in a lottery!

Don't miss out. You're invited! Register here.
