New Journeymen Receive Their Certificates
Newly qualified journeymen and their families attended a formal ceremony at Hotel Nordica in large numbers
An impressive group of new journeymen received their journeyman's certificates at a formal ceremony at Hotel Nordica this week.
In total, new journeymen graduated from eight trades, which are:
- Photography
- Printing - Graphic Communication
- Hairdressing
- Cosmetology
- Automotive Mechanics
- Wallpapering and Flooring
- Lathing
- Mechanics
103 new journeymen received a gift certificate for a course from IÐA, as well as other gifts from their professional and master associations. Several companies also gave gifts to the new journeymen in their respective trades. Awards were also presented for the highest grades on the journeyman's examination in each trade.
Around 300 guests attended the event at Nordica to celebrate with the new journeymen, and this was the first time that cosmetologists have participated in this ceremony. The musicians Sæmundur Rögnvaldsson, who sings and plays the trumpet, Þorgrímur Þorsteinsson on guitar, and Örn Ýmir Arason on double bass performed mellow tunes.
