Nýsveinn renovates a house in Fossvogur

Daði Bergsson, a newly qualified plumber, and Stefanía Eir Einarsdóttir are renovating a detached house in poor condition in Undraland in Fossvogur. Daði can make use of his expertise in plumbing during the renovation of the house.

Daði Bergsson and his girlfriend Stefanía Eir Einarsdóttir saw great potential in renovating the detached house in Undraland. They had been looking for a property to renovate, as Daði qualified as a journeyman plumber at the beginning of this year. He is now using his expertise as a plumber to renovate the house, as there is extensive work ahead. Before they bought the property, pictures of the house had attracted media attention. The house, which was well-built, had deteriorated significantly over the years and was in poor condition. Daði's first task was to paint the exterior, which immediately improved the house's appearance. "I can do a lot of things myself that I've learned by observing others through my work," says Daði, but adds that he won't go near any electrical work.

Daði is only 25 years old, a fully qualified plumber, and recommends the trade, which is clearly useful for much more than just working as a plumber. He especially recommends the training for those who are thinking about becoming plumbers. He himself had no connection to the profession but simply followed his father-in-law's advice.

IÐAN Education Centre went on-site and spoke with Daði about the condition of the house and the upcoming renovations.
