New Journeymen Awarded Certificates
The IMFR 2026 Journeyman's Ceremony was held at Hotel Natura on 7 February.
The ceremony was a magnificent affair, and singer Elín Hall delighted guests with her performance.
32 new journeymen were recognised for their excellent results on the journeyman's examination.
The President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir, who is the patron of the festival, graced the gathering and delivered a speech.
The Minister of Education and Children's Affairs, Inga Sæland, addressed the guests and discussed the importance of vocational training for society, the development of industrial and vocational education, the construction of a new Technical College in Hafnarfjörður, and improved teaching facilities for vocational training in other vocational schools.
Never before have so many students completed their journeyman's examinations as last year, and the purpose of the Journeyman's Festival is to draw attention to the importance of vocational training and trades in society.
At the ceremony, Ólafur Jónsson, Director of the Apprenticeship Office, presented awards to companies that have shown outstanding performance in hosting interns.
The companies Bílapunkturinn, Héðinn, and Snyrtistofan Garðatorgi are the Apprenticeship Office's model companies for 2026.
