Micro-credentials and stronger ties to the business community

Micro-credentials and stronger ties to the business community
In Iceland, IÐAN Education Centre and the Icelandic Travel Industry Association have initiated a dialogue with 22 companies in the tourism sector.

The second part of the *MCEU Hospitality* pilot project has now begun. The goal of this phase is to strengthen the recognition and actual use of micro-credentials.

The project's first pilot showed that the accessible and flexible MCEU online learning environment is well-suited to the real-world conditions of the tourism industry. A total of 257 participants completed 418 courses in three countries.

However, the results also revealed certain challenges. Completing a course does not automatically guarantee that the micro-credential has real value. If neither the participants nor the employers have a clear understanding of what the credential certifies, there is a risk that it will not be useful in practice. More about the results can be found here: From completion to impact: What Pilot 1 reveals about micro-credentials in practice -

In this phase of the project, special emphasis will therefore be placed on:

* clarifying what the micro-credential certifies,

* simplifying processes,

* and strengthening ties with the industry.

In Iceland, IÐAN Education Centre and the Icelandic Travel Industry Association have been in dialogue with 22 companies in the tourism sector. In the coming weeks, partners in Barcelona, Spain, and in Denmark will also begin their second pilot.
