3D Printing in Industry

3D Printing in Industry

The quality of 3D printing is almost the same as the quality from a CNC machine, but the material utilization is much better

Þórdís Björgvinsdóttir and Ágúst Bjarkarson run the company 3D Verk. It's a relatively new company, and they have plenty to do.

The adventure began when Ágúst had the idea to 3D print his BSc project from the Agricultural University of Iceland. At that time, it wasn't possible to buy printers or materials in Iceland, so he had to purchase everything from abroad. Soon, his purchases became so extensive that suppliers thought he was running his own shop. That's how 3D Verk was founded, says Ágúst, who actually never imagined the response would be as good as it has been.

Þórdís and Ágúst say that tremendous technological development has taken place in a very short time in the field of 3D printing, and major changes are ahead. Among their clients are car repair shops, lathe operators, architects, designers, artists, sculptors, and the National Culinary Team of Iceland, which uses 3D printing to create various shapes, among other things.
