EU Directive on Sustainability Reporting
A new directive for small and medium-sized enterprises is about to see the light of day
Ásgeir Valur Einarsson, Head of Sustainability at Iðan, talks with lawyer Jennifer Schwalbenberg about the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and how it will affect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The directive covers non-financial reporting on the sustainability status of SMEs, e.g., carbon footprint, energy consumption, and equality.
Companies in the market are already required to provide this information, and there are examples of this affecting smaller companies that are part of their value chain. Small and medium-sized enterprises often lack the resources to manage such information, and Jennifer goes over a few examples and tells us about a solution that was adopted in Malaysia.
