Opportunities for apprentices and newly qualified journeymen

Inga Birna Antonsdóttir, International Officer at IÐAN, joins us for a pleasant chat about the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ grant system, which is designed to increase opportunities for exchange programmes and learning abroad.

Inga says that newly qualified journeymen and apprentices are the main users of the grants, which have enabled many to complete part of their workplace training or continuing education abroad. Apprentices and newly qualified journeymen who have gone abroad after completing their studies agree that it has broadened their horizons and that they have returned home richer in experience in many ways.

Inga Birna encourages young people in trades to take advantage of the grants for study and stays abroad. In most cases, the grant is sufficient to cover flights, housing, and living expenses.

Applications for the grants are submitted on the IÐAN website.
