Photojournalism Under Pressure
Photographer Vilhelm Gunnarsson discusses the future of photojournalism and photographers' diminishing access to documenting history.
He says there is a real danger that little of people's daily lives will be photographed now that Fréttablaðið is off the scene. He also discusses true and false images, artificial intelligence, and what stood out in photography over the past year.
Vilhelm was victorious when the Pictures of the Year were selected at the annual exhibition at the Reykjavík Museum of Photography. The exhibition is held by the Icelandic Press Photographers' Association and runs until May 27th. A book with all the exhibition's photos is available in the Reykjavík Museum of Photography's gift shop.
Vilhelm took both the Environmental Photo of the Year and the Sports Photo of the Year.
