Danna Drion, General Manager Marketing at Mimaki, says the future of the printing industry is not determined solely by new machines and software. Young and creative people will determine the industry's growth.
At the FESPA exhibition held in Barcelona in May, Danna particularly emphasized that the printing industry needs to appeal more to younger generations, promote diversity, and build stronger connections with new people who can bring fresh ideas into the industry. “When young and creative people enter the industry, we ourselves move forward. They bring new perspectives, new ideas, and help us see new opportunities,” she says.
At the exhibition, Mimaki introduced a number of new solutions that reflect the rapid development taking place in digital printing for signage and sign making. One of the biggest innovations is the 330H, a new hybrid printer. “The customer can perform the entire process with one machine, thus fully utilizing the production capacity,” she says.
Another innovation that attracted attention at Mimaki's booth was the Tiger Pigment printer, designed for sign and graphics printing. There, the company utilizes so-called Cross Platform technology, which has previously been used in its larger production solutions, including the JFX 600 series. The solution opens up new possibilities in poster and packaging printing.
“We still see tremendous opportunities for growth. New markets and new areas of application are constantly opening up,” she says.
Mimaki places great emphasis on education and knowledge sharing.
For example, with the podcast series Print Different Podcast, where experts, manufacturers, and leaders in the printing industry discuss the latest trends and challenges. The goal is to enhance knowledge, create discussion about the future of the industry, and spark the interest of new generations in the opportunities offered by digital printing solutions.
