Head of Department for Knowledge Development and Production

We are looking for a dynamic manager who, together with a strong team of employees, will shape and lead the work of significantly increasing the role of development, innovation, and production at IÐAN. This is a new position that reports to the Managing Director.

Our role is to improve the skills of companies and staff in the industry, and we believe that IÐAN's fertile environment for innovation and technology is one of the keys to this.

Our emphasis is on clear roles for everyone in the team and strong, dynamic collaboration where the strengths and interests of each individual are best utilized. Most of what we do is based on cross-organizational collaboration.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Responsible for the department's success.
  • Shaping the supply of courses and services in line with the changing needs of the industry.
  • Production of courses, materials, and study programs, as well as other services.
  • Development of digital educational solutions.
  • Ensuring that equipment supports the diverse dissemination of material to different groups.
  • Participation in international collaboration.

Competency requirements:

  • University education relevant to the job.
  • Excellent communication skills, initiative, and results-driven.
  • Leadership skills and management experience.
  • Have good knowledge and skills in digital solutions.
  • Knowledge of pedagogy and/or digital educational solutions is an advantage.
  • Organized, independent, and disciplined work methods.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management.

Leader for Food and Catering Industries

We are looking for a progressive leader to lead IÐAN's education and services for the food and catering industries. To this end, the leader will develop IÐAN's professional specialization in the relevant industries and create strong connections with professionals/the professions.

The Leader for Food and Catering Industries is a new position within IÐAN that calls for foresight and initiative towards the industries. Effective collaboration is needed with IÐAN's departments on the implementation of matters and with the industries' professional councils where educational and service needs are shaped.

About you:

  • You have a burning passion for education in the food and catering industries. 
  • You easily take initiative and are good at leading collaboration successfully.
  • You have experience of collaboration in the business world.
  • You are a results-driven individual with excellent communication skills.
  • You have an education relevant to the job, in the field of food and catering industries.
  • You possess a service-oriented mindset and skills in interpersonal communication.
  • You have digital strengths.
  • You are a progressive, creative, and ambitious individual.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Organizing educational activities for the food and catering industries.
  • Developing avenues for corporate training for the food and catering industries.
  • Collaborating with key people in the industries and building a network of contacts.
  • Company visits and project follow-up.
  • Participation in reviews on profession-related matters.
  • Preparation and follow-up of Professional Council meetings.

Competency requirements:

  • Education that is relevant to the job; it is desirable that the person has an education in the food and catering industries as well as further education.
  • An individual with knowledge and experience of collaboration in the business sector. Insight and experience in educational work is an advantage.
  • Considerable knowledge of and interest in the industry, very good command of Icelandic and English, both spoken and written, organised, independent and disciplined work methods, outstanding communication skills, initiative and results-driven.
  • Education in pedagogy and/or teaching experience is an advantage.
  • A socially-minded individual who finds it easy to take on diverse projects, work in a team, interpret the common benefits of different parties and lead collaboration successfully.

IÐAN's role is first and foremost to improve the competence of companies and staff in industry. It does this by providing companies and individuals with new knowledge and skills as needed. Emphasis is placed on responding quickly to the industry's needs for new knowledge, as there have been major changes in the industry's operating environment in recent terms. These changes have called for increased interdisciplinary services from IÐAN and a broader range of services. IÐAN's new strategy is intended to answer this call.
