English Through Sustainability - Sustainable Development Goals
In this ESL lesson plan for adults, students watch and listen to a video report about the United Nations’ 17 sustainable development goals. In the first preview section, students do activities on sustainable development, what it means, and images related to sustainable development. In the second preview section, students learn some verbs related to sustainability and do activities on sustainable development goals. Students then do some listening/viewing comprehension activities based on the video. The first post-viewing section includes an activity on a quote from the video, as well as prepositions used in the speaker’s descriptions of the sustainable development goals. The second post-viewing section prompts students to come up with their own description of one of the remaining sustainable development goals using the lexical terms they learned in the lesson.
